opinions on selling tractor for parts

Bought an Farmall H that appeared to be in very good condition, the #!@# that sold it swore he had completely rebuilt the engine. Oil pressure was great, for about five hours of use. Long story short, cam bearings are bad and it needs to be split. It is torn down to the point it is ready to split but are wondering if it is worth the money and time. We paid a premium price thinking it would not need work for a few years (I'll never trust anyone again!) and it just makes me sick to think we are putting more money into it which we will not get back. The H's were known for being work horses but there is the thouhgt about being a dead horse..... If memory serves me correctly, it is a 1940 which means it is one of the more common H's made, I ruled out the antique thought a long time ago. Since many of you have rebuilt these tractors and I know there is a place in PA that sells parts, I was wondering if it would make more sense to try to sell it for parts. I have a dealer that said he was interested in it as is but I am not so sure about him either (that trust thing again).
Maybe the best thing would be to place an ad for it here and take our lumps?? Any of your thoughts or experiences would be appreciated. I am sure we are not the only ones who have run into cheaters and liars selling equipment.
