i have seen this happen on two occasions, boat trailer came loose and bit the dirt, but the worse one was when i bought my new chevy, have them add a towing package, and they did, well two days later, i was hualing round bales on a flatbed, moving fairly quick down the roadi lost the trailer, with my hitch still attached to it, come to find out the mechanic that added my hitch only had four bolts on one that took eight, so he just finished my truck, needless to say after that, the dealership needed a new mechanic, so as the old saying goes "If you want somthing done right, do it yourself", just my too cents
