2N Starter Can't get it out of there! STuck on Bell Thing!

Well, starter went out, so I went to replace it. I got the brush-end piece off, and the body, but dang me if I can't get the armature out. I can wiggle it all over the place, but there is this kinda bell-shaped thing on the end, stuck in the main body of the tractor, which is interfering with me pulling it out. My generalized service manual just says to remove the bolts and yank her out. But I am afraid that if I pull any harder, something will bust. Help please!
