I posted on here a few days ago about my 2004 Pontiac Bonneville. One sugestion was to google resetting obd11 codes. I read the procedure from GM. It says start car, let idle for 2.5 minutes with heater,ac,rear defroster, ligts on. Then it says to go 3 min accerlatoring to 55 and holding speed. Then let car slow to 20 mph. and repeat acceleration at 3/4 trottle to 55 mph for 5 minutes and let car decelerate to less than 20mph(can not use brakes). Before starting ambient air temperaure can not be more than coolant temperature by 10 degree Fahrenheit. Must cool car down at least 8 hours before repeating. May have to repeat 5 times. Now, I can see why JDE Maris dreads coming back to New York and do his inspection. I live 3 miles from a main road where I could do this procedure. Do I have to leave my car by a state road overnight so I can do the procedure by the book? I understand if you have repair bills exceeding the value of a car you can get an emissions waiver. I buy quite a few engines and transmissions for other equipment. Thinking about trying this route. Wife is against doing this. Also, I bought a decent obd11 scanner so I do not have wait at the garage every 100 miles. Any advise is appreciated. ps I have 5 of the 7 parameters ok. The other two just will not open. No error codes or check engine lights.
