The head gasket is cheep the engine is not as to where the green is comming from it is anybodys guess you may find something that you did not want to find like a cracked block down in the cylinders or the head to many things that it could be as i have seen many of cracked blocks and head on them . So if it is just a head gskt. fix it but make sure that the head and block are clean and toqured correctly.they ARE CONTRANKERIOUS OLD ENGINES don't get her to hot don't shut her off hot don't put her to work before she is warmed up . Like i said i gave that advice to the guy that bought my old 450 diesel over 35 years ago and it is still running.
