Cracked the drain plug and noticed about 1/2 teaspoon of green antifreeze in the oil after the tractor has sat for about 3 weeks. Also, about 8 weeks ago, noticed that the previous owner had removed the center cylinder head nut on the left side of the engine to install a bracket, and only tightened it to about 20ft-lbs. It was this way for MANY years. I tightened it down to about 50ft-lbs, then proceeded to plow for 8 days straight. Engine held together and has good oil pressure (about 45).

Last week I noticed a discoloration in the paint below the head gasket under this nut, which looked like a water leak. At that time I torqued down the nut to 110ft-lbs.

Is it possible that the antifreeze in the oil is a result of the loose head nut? Should I replace the head gasket. How about Bar's leak stop? Any other suggestions?

The head gasket is cheep the engine is not as to where the green is comming from it is anybodys guess you may find something that you did not want to find like a cracked block down in the cylinders or the head to many things that it could be as i have seen many of cracked blocks and head on them . So if it is just a head gskt. fix it but make sure that the head and block are clean and toqured correctly.they ARE CONTRANKERIOUS OLD ENGINES don't get her to hot don't shut her off hot don't put her to work before she is warmed up . Like i said i gave that advice to the guy that bought my old 450 diesel over 35 years ago and it is still running.
