Hi guys My grandfather has a 51 H and a 41 M that I would like to restore in the near future. I never worked on tractors much so I really don't know what I am doing but I'm going to give it a shot. Here are my questions: 1. The H was badly leaking oil from the rear seal. We split the tractor and replaced the seal as well as all of the little gaskets that are in that area. I took the top and bottom pieces that the rear seal lies in to a machine shop and had the surfaces ground. We put everything back together and when the tractor heats up, it still leaks a fair amount although not as bad as it had. What else can I do to stop it from leaking? 2. Fifth gear has a rattle in it and the shift lever seems awful sloppy, especially in reverse. I haven't tore into the transmission yet but can anyone give me any hints / suggestions as to what may need replaced / repaired? 3. The ammeter is showing a slight discharge when the tractor is running. It is still the original positive ground six volt system and I just replaced the battery. What should I check? Thanks in advance for any help. zach

You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
