H radiator removal/rod bearing size

Michigan winter's fast approaching and it's time to do the top end of my H..started smoking pretty bad this summer. Got the head off and I pulled 3 sleeves with just my hand..still working on the fourth! I have to remove the radiator to have the overflow tube brazed back on and I'm not sure how to go about removing the steering shaft. Got the universal unbolted but can't separate it from the forward shaft section. Does it just push forward thru the front gear box? Also, rod bearings don't have any markings at all..safe to assume they are standard size (not .01 .02 etc)? Thanks..I wouldn't even be attempting this without this great board for a resource.
