Fawteen - we've had a miserable month... Cold and wet. Grass hasn't started growing yet. Checked soil temperature today - 46 degrees. Trying to find a few warm sunny days strung together so I can finish up my field and plant oats. Gotta disk and drag yet. need a smooth field for hay next year - oats are nurse crop for next year's alfalfa. Not much field work going on anywhere. Wife and I drove halfway across the state Thursday. Didn't see any fresh turned dirt. So I'm not the only farmer feeling behind the 8 ball.
