Borrowing Dads handle,with his permission, for a couple of questions about newer Skidsteer, skidloader information.Our Bobcat (722) is getting to an age where I'm thinking of a second backup skidsteer,skidloader. Now this in mind, what ones are still made(not new) but atleast in the late80's-early 90's that are hand and foot controlled,still parts availability,and around 35-45 hp,& atleast 12-1500# lift capacity.We don't use any hydraulic add-ons,such as brush cutters,or such,So a high flow is not needed.Most of what it's used for is picking up split firewood and dumping it in the truck, some leveling of ground(backdrag driveway, building material handling, and sometimes snow removal.Tires are best, as track wearing and breaking,when I would have to wait to get a new one,is definately out.I can always get a tire or repair one when needed.Place where I worked used to buy Cat skidsteers, and within 1000 hours the oil pump quit or lost the pickup tube,now according to the field mechanic, who changed the engine($10,000 cost) it was a common failure to that engine, so Cat is out. It would have to be in either of the following brands, as for dealers around here, we are limited. Case, John Deere,New Holland,Bobcat. Out of those, which of you have had the least problems with them.I would like to get a longer wheelbase than our Bobcat(722) as sometimes it is a little rough,(bouncing) when traveling over some terrain,and extra wheel base is helpful in taking care of tipping forward.Any information is appreciated.
