Postmasters assistant told me yesterday that my PO box is locked out because I haver not taken the time to renew my box rent--that is free anyway.
Seems I must bring in two forms of ID, and one must be a photo type.
I've lived in the comunity for around fifty years, and know the postmaster, and assistant postmaster extreemly well.
I've been on the fire department and EMS for over thirty years. The town population is 700, and I kinda think that includes the dogs and cats.
I have lived in the same house for thirty years, with the same PO box number.
The Postmaster and her husband have been friends for over fourty years, I have done 90% of all their construction and repairs for the same time frame. We party together sometimes, and also have went out for super once in a while.
The assistan postmaster, and her husband join me at most tractor shows, we talk probably three times a week on the phone etc.
Now I must take time out of my working day to prove who I am. Post office is closed from 12-2 each day, and don't open till 8:30, and lock up at 3:30.
The post office is running in the red, and managment the last time they got in trouble got a $5,000.00 raise (if I got the story correct) after they got some funding. Bill somebody is the big dog.
Hey, I know one of these ladies postmaster / or assistant--- REAL WELL,---YEA, THAT WELL--- and yet here we go.
They are 100% in agrement with me, that it is stupid to say the least.
