: : : : : Ihave a stuck 4 cylinder engine. Two pistons right at the top , other two down From underneith everything looks good. Up top looks bad Thanks in advance Kevin

: : : : This might sound kind of quirky, but alcohol has a way of working it's way thru anything. I'd try a penatrating solvent forst tho'. Alcohol for the equipment not the operator. Dunno if this helps or not, good luck, Me

: : : :::::Would you not be worried that alcohol consists of mostly water? I've also heard that coca-cola is good for the same purpose, maybe the water is the secret. It's worth a try to pass this logic pass your wife, when your justifing your purchase of a 1/2 gal. of Old Grandad. Or what if the preacher drops by, "oh, I just use that stuff for rusty bolts and such". I like your thinking Indian Guy. Bonehead
: : The Indian Guy is right regular ole alcohol works well, try it and let us know the outcome. Del

: A friend once gave me a Smith & Wesson 38 that had spent a little while in a damp basement and had rusted solid. I tried all kinds of solvents and moderate heat to no avail, I finally ended up boiling it in a pan of water. that loosened up every little thing including a tiny spring & pin hidden in the crane. I hadn't heard of the alcohol trick 'til a while later. This Indian stays away from firewater, some of my Dads old drinkin' buddies tell stories that raised the hair on my head. But if I did need a bit of Granny's Rhu'mtism medicine, rusty bolts is a great excuse. Keeps it handy too. Have fun, Me

I have a little formula that has worked for me a time or two. First you will have to get some liquid wrench,a bottle jack,a big shade tree and a big cooler. Put the liquid wrench in the top of each piston use a lot of it. Then take the pan off put the bottle jack on one of the rods coming up with just a little pressure don't try to get it all at once. Then go to the shade tree open the cooler get a Bud out and just about time the cooler is emty you will have a unstuck motor.

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
