When you have the plug out and spin it over, do you get a spark? You have to ground the plug to the engine to complete the circuit.

If you're getting a nice fat blue spark, you should be good to go.

Squirting some gas into the cylinder won't necessarily eliminate a fuel problem. Raw gas MAY evaporate enough to provide an explosive mixture, but after the engine goes past the exhaust stroke once, you're out of fuel again. A better indicator is if you put the plug in, set the choke and spin it over a few time. If the plug gets wet, you're getting fuel.

If the spark looks weak (yellowish) with the plug out, it's quite possible that it's not firing under compression.

Finally, if you have fuel and spark, they have to arrive at the correct time. Check the timing. Check to make sure the gas is fresh.

Try this stuff, if still no joy, come back.
