Hey jdemaris. There is no technical reason why the digital TV transition should mess with AM radio reception. The frequencies AM uses are nowhere near the ones used for television so interference is highly unlikely. However, there may very well be incidental interference. With the changeover, there has been a massive reconfiguration of radio towers. Many TV stations had installed multiple broadcast antennas to use different frequencies (one analog and one digital). Many stations are using a new frequency now and have replaced their old main broadcast antenna with a new one for the new frequency. The point is that the antenna real estate on towers has been pretty valuable and if your AM station was being broadcast from a tower with multiple TV transmitters, it may have been booted off temporarily. This is just a guess really.
If you know the call letters of the station, you can always look it up at the FCC's website to find out what their broadcast status is.
