I don't know anything about the auto industry or the operation of the union. Since not knowing anything has seldom stopped me from offering an opinion in the past, here's this go-round.
I wonder if Chysler is going to end up VIRTUALLY being a not-for-profit organization.
If the union owns a controlling interest in the company, it seems like it could put a very pro-labor board of directors into place. Then, the board could set policy that would enable labor to take virtually all of the profit out of the business. I can't imagine that the executives of the company would dare to irritate the union members enough to cause them to go out on strike. It seems like management would be seriously handicapped in any negotiations.
