Hi, I'am kinda into old cars, orphan cars especially. At this time I have 2 1929 Nash standards, Models 422 (Convert rumble seat coupe)
and a model 423 (2 door sedan), both are flathead sixes 184 c/i. 422 I finished up (close to anyhooo) restoration this year. Big Bucks Spent, LOL. 423 is a diamond in the rough, a works in progress. I did own a 1929 Essex super
six, man what a car, I still miss it after nearly fifty years. If your engine is like the 29, you cannot pull the pistons/rods out from the top rod bearing is larger than the bore. Also, mine had removable counter weights on the
crankshaft, that may have to be removed in order todo piston/ring/pin work. No ring compressor needed for piston/ring work, lower edge of cylinders have a champher. Also 29 had a roller tappet cam, and timing chain was adjustable from outside of engine. And if ya have to remove crank counter weights mark carefully, to get them reinstalled same as when
removed. 29 also had a wet clutch, cork disc plate, was smooth. Same clutch as most early Hudsons Had. Some junk I remembered from my car.
