While edpap has a good suggestion I feel the forward clutch piston seals have worn out allowing the oil to escape the fwd clutch cylinder the cold oil will keep a seal till it thins out. You could as edpap suggested, unplug the clutch disconnect solenoid and try it. This is the same reverser that all the case hoes used from the 580c through the early 580k"s and I have rebuilt more of them than I care to think about. They are a very good unit but can be worn out like anything else. I used Case kits in two JD"s that I did over. Case sells clutch and seal kits, Case uses brass reverse clutch plates while JD uses fibre discs but the brass went in and worked fine. Pumps are the same, went with a JD converter at more than twice the price.
