I bought a tractor thru ebay. 735 miles away. Asked my questions before the final bid - got partial answers - no red flags. Sent a 10% deposit with the promise to bring the balance as a cashier's check. When i arrived, I discovered that a photo of a green tractor in the shade does not give a perfect representation of the paint condition. "Original condition" means different things to different people. Your negotiating position is very weak when your truck and trailer is 735 miles from home. Conclusion : Won't do it again UNLESS the seller and I have some agreed upon guidelines for establishing condition by on-site inspection.
