With the price of scrap going so high, i've heard of some yards by us paying $12 a hundred with the dumpster delivered to your place, has anyone seen an increase in old tractor and hit/miss engines in the scrap yard. I hate to see this equipment go to scrap that could be good for someone and have helped to pull my fair share of it from the scrap yard. The problem is that now, you would have to pay the scrap yard an exorbant amount to get it from them especially things that are heavy like a Cat D4 or Cat 60. I pulled a Farmall 140 and JD A parts tractors from scrap last year and some Cat 15 dozers a few years back as well.
I hope those that can look for this old equipment that could be saved before it is scrapped. I personally don't even scrap the bare housing since you never know when even they could break. I'm amazed that people will still scrap perfectly good farm tractors too, it seems that they don't realize there is a market for it.
