Don't let um confuse you too. The 8 volt was in several cars and tractors years ago. The 1st ones were in General Motors cars with an inline straight 8 cylinder engine. Buicks and Pontiacs needed the extra umph to be able to crank. The system was 6 volts with an 8 volt battery. The 8 volt battery will charge to it's maximum on a 6 volt charger, the 6 volt charger will over run on volts to cover the 8 volt. I have seen serious accidents from charging the 8 volt battery with a 12 volt charger. I saw where these guys are recommending the charge to be 12 volts, but that is extremely dangerous and wrong.
