The heating oil is better for the tractor than the highway diesel. If any of it needs an additive, it's the diesel from the pump.
Here in New York - before October 1st of this year, heating oil-farm fuel-off road diesel were the same fuel from the same tanks. After Oct 1, heating oil is separate from farm fuel/off road. The latter has a bit less sulfur and more tax -but is not ultra-low sulfur diesel yet. It will be in another year or so. So, after Oct 1st, heating oil is dyed a different color than farm fuel - and before - it was all red.
