Any issue with running heating oil in a diesel tractor? Would a additive help? Thanks Bert

The heating oil is better for the tractor than the highway diesel. If any of it needs an additive, it's the diesel from the pump.

Here in New York - before October 1st of this year, heating oil-farm fuel-off road diesel were the same fuel from the same tanks. After Oct 1, heating oil is separate from farm fuel/off road. The latter has a bit less sulfur and more tax -but is not ultra-low sulfur diesel yet. It will be in another year or so. So, after Oct 1st, heating oil is dyed a different color than farm fuel - and before - it was all red.

diesel fuel is now almost all ulsd there might be a very small percentage of the other fuel out there a guy who works at one of the large oil companys told me they cant take a chance of getting fuels mixed together by hoses or somw still left in truck tanks or whatever it would be a large fine so its easier for them to have all ulsd and they put dye in it accordingly

Many times it comes from the very same tank. It is possible it is the same oil, but without the anti-wear additives.

I would combine it with regular #2, or do an attitive, if I don't know where it came from.
