The glow plug warms the air in the intake manifold. Another trick is to take a heat gun, the type that blows hot air, and warm up the intake manifold. Also you could take the front grill off the tractor and aim the heat gun into the air intake to get warm air into the engine. You may have to take the oil cup off the bottom of the air breather and get hot air directly onto the intake. Be careful and don't catch any oil drop or trash on fire. BTW the air intake being in front of the radiator with the fan behind it gets a lot of dirt sucked into it and you may need to take the air filter assembly off and clean it throughly. wait for a warm day though. ALSO, DO NOT clean the steel mesh filter out with gasoline and immediately put it back on the tractor and crank the tractor. The gas fumes will be a supply of unregulated fuel and the engine will rev up too fast. Blow out the filter and let it sit overnight before using, whatever kind of oil or gas you use to clean it.
I was desperate to crank mine one time and I warmed up new cans of oil and changed the oil. It cranked fine, turned out the factory new battery was bad.
