I have a 580C Case backhoe that I just "planted" 67 - 2 5/8" steel pipe posts layed out on 10' centers. Takes two people to do it right. One to operate the backhoe bucket on top of the pipe to provide the driving force and one to keep the post vertical using a magnetized 90 degree V-level stuck to the side of the pipe. Cut the posts 9' long and drove them in the ground 3'. Of course I'm in sandy loam with no rocks. Plan to leave them alone untill next summer to let cold weather and silting do their jobs (if any), then weld up the horizontal runners and top rail. bob farrell
