The old Dodge trucks did not have the option of having a PTO from the transfer cases. I do not remember the TC number used but we had 2 Power Wagons, a '79 and an '80. The 79 was a stick that had been used as a wrecker at one time and when we got it, it was still equipped with the side mount PTO. Every Dodge truck I have worked on has had a NP TC but there were several model numbers. The only one I have to look at currently is a 89 with the Getrag 360 and a NP 205. The Getrag has a side plate to mount a PTO on the right side. From the Dodges I have worked on, a TC PTO is not possible. The only way a PTO is possible is by running it off the input shaft in the tranny. I have used several Dodge wreckers and the hydraulics were run by the pto. If the PTO were run off the TC, there would be no live PTO. The TC only turns when the truck is in motion, so there would be no hydraulics while the wrecker was sitting stationary to hook up to a vehicle.
