If i am correct, this is what i'm explaining: SOURCE TO SWITCH TO OUTLET. From the SOURCE, hook your black wire to your switch. On the wire going to the OUTLET, hook its black to the switch as well. If its just a new regular single pole, it doesn't matter where you put the wires. Pigtail the whites together. From the SWITCH to the OUTLET, take your black wire and hook it up to the GOLD color upper screw. Hook the white to the SILVER upper screw.
