I have encountered this before on boats I have worked on. Especially if it is difficult or impossible to restart it is probably the coil. The coil is susceptable to heat as the basis of the coil is the ...coil of wire...so a bad coil will become less effective as it gets hot. If there is also an external resistor you might check this also. The problem that I have found is that it is difficult to check either of these items for much more than continuity or spark or no spark. I have never been able to diagnose electrical problems by the visual test of a spark...just dont have the knack I guess. What I do know is that I have three times narrowed similar problems down to the coil and the symptoms disappeared when I replaced it. Good Luck Kim
