A year and a half ago I purchased a new Sears 48" Garden Tractor with a Briggs and Straton 26 HP engine. Well the unit has worked o.k. except for minor deck problems but all of a sudden the engine started smoking white smoke. After checking all the stuff the service dept suggested I finally had a service tech. come to the house to inspect the motor. His conclusion was that dirt had gotten into the cilinders and sanded the walls and oil was on the plugs fouling them out so I needed a new engine. Of course the warranty has run out, however he said it was my problem. Not Sears. He said the filter system on the BS engine was not effective and he had seen other machines doing the same thing. All of this took less than 20 minutes and cost 80 bucks so he was no help. AANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM LET ME KNOW AS I AM CONSIDERING GETTING AN ATTORNEY FOR A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST BRIGGS AND STRATTON. OR ANY SUGGESTIONS OR HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. THANKS.
