John deere a was rated at 35 drawbar horsepower this makes it a 3 bottom tractor it is capable of handling a 12 disk. happy deere what gear can you pull your 2 bottom in i was doing 3rd with hardly any throttle with myn but its an eraly styled tractor. an a is a hard tugging tractor with alot of power plenty of weight good to work on and find parts for dont neccesarily care for the frame though if it was me i would try and find a 620 or 630 it is the same size but more power and confort, if you want to spend a little more i think you would be alot happier with it if your goig to work it. it really depends on the acrage if your doing a garden i use my h for that on about a 3 ace garden and it does fine
