If memory serves me, the 88 series used a separate steering pump. The pump toward the rear is really two, charge/lube and steering, PFC is to the front and only used for remotes and 3pt. Steering regulator valve is on the pump, the spring breaks(chips) sometimes and causes the valve to stick. VET: the PFC analyzer is nothing more than a fancy tee and pressure gauge. I have a practally new one in the box, use my 'home made' tool instead. Once you are familiar with the PFC pump operation you would find it fairly easy to diagnose.
