Greg, do you have documentation of this tip over backward or is this something that you speculate can happen? I have a nearly new rotary cutter that is factory designed that does not utilize a top link at all. The lift arms pick up the front and the trail wheels pivot hydraulically to pick up the rear. I have never experience this phenomenon with this cutter nor with a heavy 6' brush hog mounted on a light 8N Ford. The only time that I have had the front end to get light is with the implement raised. I hung the cutter on the Ford on a stump while using a chain for the top link and all it did was abruptly stop and choked the tractor. I was thrown forward onto the steering wheel but at no time did the front end raise. I have had a rear wheel to drop into a stump hole while using a regular top link and the weight of the tractor was transferred onto the brush hog and I could not get the tractor out of the hole because the wheel could not get any traction. This stump hole incident bent the lift framework on the brush hog demonstrating that it would offer little support in event the tractor tried to turn over backward.
