I have an old danuser digger with a pretty beat up 12" auger. I'm building a pole barn and have been trying to dig my post holes with it. Man, what a hassle. The problem is that it doesn't want to dig in. It will just sit there and spin all day. I have to keep lifting and dropping, lifting and dropping. Then loosen up with a digger bar. Repeat for 10 minutes at least. What can I do to get it to grab? It looks like the teeth at the end of the flights are replaceable, but I'm thinking more along the lines of welding something on. Maybe I can weld a bead along the rounded teeth and gring to an edge. This model actually has the down presure hydraulic cyl, but my old Ford 650 doesn't have external hydraulics.
