A Ford 9/2/8N shouldn't be TOO hard to find, in that price range (as long as you don't mind it needing some cosmetic work). They will have a 3pt, but no live hydraulics and they're not REALLY suited for a loader (although there are a whole BUNCH of them that have a loader). Personally, I like the old Fords. If you're wanting to stay in the ~30HP or so range, then I might suggest an NAA (N's were made from 1939-1952, NAA's were 1953 and 1954, 100-series from 1955-1962), with an NAA you'll have a 3pt. and live hydraulics, as well as a bit more horsepower and an OHV engine. Of course, you'll most likely end up spending a bit more for an NAA. If you got real lucky and looked really hard, you might be able to get a running NAA for $2500. If I were in the market for a new-to-me tractor, though, I'd be looking for an 860/861. You're looking at ~40HP, live hydraulics AND live PTO. Of course, you're also looking at a median price of $3500-$4500 (most likely). HTH Steve
