Mine usually outlast the phone companies "technology". I trade up every so often. Currently, I'm packing a Sprint Samsung flip-phone that's been in my pocket for 2-1/2 years. I recently upgraded my service plan, and got a credit towards a new phone. Plan is to give my current phone to my wife, and get a new one for me. She doesn't even want a phone, but it seems like a good thing to me, for her to have one. I've carried a cell phone since the days of the "brick phone". Todays phones are much more durable, provided you don't get a cheap-o. One thing that helps your cell service, is to take the phone to a "service center" every now and then, and have them "update" the coverage area's. When they add new cell towers, the phone needs to be programed to look for them. It makes a huge difference in reception (at least in my area...)
