Glenn You said it will run if you keep the starter switch engaged right? and the tractor has not run since being rewired? Take a close look at the back of the starter switch, check that the smaller wire that leads to the amp meter box is connected to the battery side of the starter switch not the starter side. What is happening is as soon as you let go of the starter switch the power to the coil is getting shut off just like hitting the ignition switch to stop the motor
