I can't see why anyone would fill thier tires with saltwater in the first place. I haven't used farm tractors much so I can't really comment on how much good it does. I have used backhoes in every kind of conditions you can imagine though. They are basically big tractors with a whole lot of built in rear tire weight. I can tell you that the weight doesn't add any to traction. Just makes the tires dig deeper holes when you get stuck. Sometimes I actually swing the hoe out to the side to decrease weight when I need to get out of a rut. Why not just fill your tires with concrete? I think the saltwater idea is nonsense. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has different opinions.
