John, I have had probably a 100 of those Fairbanks stripped completely apart over the years and they are not too hard. Take the nut off the end of the shaft and remove gear. Now the tricky part. The next piece is the impulse trip and it is on a tapered keyway. You need to pry up on it while hitting on the end of the shaft to pop it loose. Next, take off the plate that the points sit on and also remove the coil. Rmove snap ring from shaft on front side and remove shaft. Make sure you replace the oil seal in reasembly. Steve
