Craftsman GT 5000 will not cut

I have a new gt 5000 25 hp kohler 48" deck,this mower keeps chocking on grass and stalls the engine,then the deck belt comes off,i only have 43 hrs on this mower.the blades ok,clean deck,.my 1976 wheel horse with 12hp plows right through with no problem even when the grass is wet.what is wrong?ready to take back. bought new 3-04 Rick
