Cat II inplements with a Cat I hitch

Can this be done? I bought a IH 504 a few weeks ago. It has a Cat I hitch. I wanted to hook up a 7' bush hog, but the ones I have seen are Cat II equipment. The 504 should have enough power for the mower and the 7' just about matches the width of the outside of the rear tires. Besides, I have other things to do than groom pastures. TIA, Kirk
