Compact Tractor with Belly Mower Capability

Let me start by stating that I just found this terrific resource yesterday, and appreciate the all the information available here. Raised in Detroit, but now living in East Texas, I find myself, an ignorant city boy, trying to make it in the big country!

Although I only have 2 1/2 acres to mow, I'm frustrated at buying new "toy" riding mowers every 2 or 3 years, and am interested in getting a real piece of equipment that will last as long as I do.

Although we are still clearing some of our property, eventually we will hope to have a smooth enough "lawn" to need a finish mower. Also, I work away from home much of the time, so my wife does much of the mowing, so we need a very reliable machine that is fairly easy to operate. The reason I think we want a belly mower, is for ease of mowing close to structures, trees, etc., and minimize backing up.

An older tractor, with some "personality" that would be a good restoration project is a favorable, as well. We are also looking for good flexibility for adding implements, such as front end loaders, and of course, PTO devices.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations, or help you can provide.

Richard
