Yes, I know, its me again! Some of you guys beat me up a little when I made the comment that I didn't like people touching my tractor.

I own a couple of tractors that are near 60 years old. I use them for mowing and blading and enjoy
them for that reason. If I took them to a tractor show, most folks would wonder why I bothered.

The tractor that I take to shows, folks really enjoy looking at and ask lots of questions. The
tractor is an orchard model. I remember one time a lady that was in her late 80's came up to me and said "who do you think you are fooling, they
never made tractors that look like that"! I live in an area where there are no orchards, or those kinds of tractors. Obviously, I can't work this tractor where it was intended.

I used to restore cars, I like tractors a lot better then any car I ever owned. I have judged cars at shows. I always gave the guy that drove his car to the show as many credits as the guy who rolled his car out of a trailer. If the guy that drove missed getting some bugs wiped off the front, that didn't bother me. I always had a lot of respect for the guy who did the work himself.
He may have a poor paint job and body work, but he did the best he could. Often times it was a father son project, first time they had ever done a car. I made a point to always compliment them for their efforts even though they didn't stand a chance of winning a trophy.

I don't like to have my tractor judged, and I don't care about the trophies. I do enjoy the conversations with people, thats why I do this.
I even enjoyed getting told off by the old lady!

I kind of look at it this way, I am the caretaker
of the tractors that I have for a very short period in geological time. I just hope that someone else will take care of them when I am gone.
