I've never seen a 6000, except in pictures, but I would say that an 8 speed could not be fitted in the 6000. The early 2000 and 4000 should have been somewhat similar in layout, I think, to the 6000, and the 8 speed will not fit them. The 8 speeds from '65 and up had bellhousings cast to accept the starter on the right, while the 6000, if it was like the 2000/4000 would need a left hand starter. So to start with, it would not bolt, and who knows how many other problems. At least that's my thinking, BUT i may very well be wrong. If you want a working tractor, just about ANY other model would be the one. That's just my opinion, based on what I have heard about 6000's. Good luck. Rod
