Opinions on Chevy 6.5 diesel

I'm looking at buying a 96 chevy with the 6.5 diesel with the electronic fuel injection. I know people that have over 350,000 on these engines with only injection pumps and hoses. But others say to stay away from them. What are yalls opinions on the 6.5 thanks
