I'm in Minnesota, we do fall tillage. With frost depth of 4-5 feet, compaction is not an issue, so for me I've been ignoring that one. :) Heavy tillage is just that, & requires a heavy tractor - either way. I miss the importance of this? Sorry I misidentified the tractor. A 5-18 plow in good shape costs $1500 here. You said a full sized Rotovator cost $20,000? Kind of what I thought. The plow has few moving parts to break, and the soil contacts the wear parts once. The rotating Rotovator chops through the ground many times with a powered drive train. Which is going to cost more in replacement parts? This one really is a no-brainer! Frankly, most people would want us both to throw our plow & Rotovator away, and do minimum or no till for erosion control. :) In any event, as I said before, glad it works for folks, and I sure don't wish to tell people how they should do things! Obviously the machine has some advantages in some places for some people. I'm happy to hear how it works & it's uses, and I never meant to put it down. Just offering another opinion on some of the side issues. :) --->Paul
