Put up a sign that says "Equipment For Hire" and you say to your neighbors " I'm sure that in your line of business, you expect to make a small and reasonable profit for your efforts and expertise. So do I. I've started a business of renting out my time and equipment. I charge $25.00 per tractor hour. How much time do you think you need? I have an opening on Tuesday at 5:30pm. Shall I pencil you in? You're still a nice guy. Now you're helping provide additional money for your family, relieveing some of your stress, and meeting the needs of your neighbors. The last time I checked, Farming was still classified as a Business. Best case scenario: you make money. Worst case scenario: no one breaks your equipment. You might even expand your business into other communities.
