Actually most contemporary plows are semi mounted. 5 to 7 bottoms sticks out too far to be pure three point. There are different shapes to the moldboards for different applications. Even to the extreme of the moldboard being made of slats for plowing upland swamps. Plows vary in the rate of rolling and even whether the shape of the bend is cylindrical or some other fancier curve. Turning plows were intended for rolling sod over and sometimes have a much longer moldboard to keep the sod from flopping back in the furrow. Plows for later use without the connectivity of the sod could use a shorter moldboard to cut the friction in more friable soil. Moldboards have been customized for different soil types and up until AC stopped selling plows, the selection of moldboard was done at the dealer, not the factory and AC had at least half a dozen plow bottoms with different characteristics and different model numbers. After market parts makers ignore most. Each plow bottom has a different angle to the frog, share, shin, and moldboard. Gerald
