Nice spuds dug by old technology. I just planted 1 lb of 3 different varieties and some baby potatoes left from last year. I just get down on my knees and dig them with a small garden shovel. I've got the soil to a point it is fairly loose and really easy to dig AND I usually don't poke holes through so many with a potato fork. I plant Yukon Golds, ?????, and for the first time German Butterballs. The Butterballs were really big and grew far away from the plant than my other potatoes, so I nicked a few and slice the ends off some. Home grown potatoes seem to taste better than store b ought. One farmer in a potato growing area said most growers grew potatoes for their own use in a garden. OOPS I didn't take any pics of the bigger potatoes.
