A day or so ago, someone aske to see a pic of my NH 1280 baler. It is basicly a 280 baler made into self-propelled. It's a baleing machine!!!! If it misses a bale, I did something wrong. It was re-powered with a A/C B power unit with a ,main clutch.. They did a very good job of putting in the different engine. That's all well and good except the motor is hand crank!! Usually, I get someone to pull start it. It starts pretty easy. Only issue I have with it is it seems to vapor lock. I may have to rig up a small electric fuel pump and see if that helps. Most of the time, if I can keep the engine temp below 170 and the radiator screen clean, it does OK. So, I generally bale late in the evening. I have so much to bale you know....about 15 acres between my neighbor and me!!! We sell it as horse hay. We have 2-3 good customers, so we usually don't have any trouble getting rid of the hay. So far we've got about 100 60 lb. or so bales, and I have about 5 A. left to cut. Oh, and why is the knotter cover open?? I like to watch the knotter work!! I use a 9 ft. NH 460 Haybine, and the hay is thin enough that I double or triple the windrows. I use an old Deere side delivery rake Dad bought at an auction I don't know how many years ago!! Still works great for me!!
