I know what the neb. tests say but I'm going off of my experiences in the field working the tractors. When at the horse farm (6 summers )I ran the batwing crew. Four tractors, 1490 case, 7950 kubota, 5220 caseih, 2640 jd. All between 70 and 80 hp. Each morning each tractor was filled with fuel and the amount was recorded. Each tractor pulled same size and brand mower for same amount of time. 5220 w/cab and AC used 22 gal. a day and mowed 8 acres per hour. 1490 case used 12 gal per day and mowed 6.7 acres per hour. 7950 kubota used 14 gal per day and mowed 7.5 acres per hour. 2640 jd used 24 gal per day and mowed 6 acres per hour. I had maps of each field and knew how long it took each tractor to mow a certain field so thats where my acres per hour came from. You get pretty bored mowing all day every day. By the way my 2950 uses 28 gal in the same situation. I've bought parts for both case and jd and jd around here is higher. Even small line parts are higher at the jd dealer than at the case or ford dealer. By the way I ran all the tractors for at least one full summer so I know what they can and can't do. This is what I'm basing fuel economy on, not what I read.
