Sounds like feelings were hurt in this exchange, I have to agree that the black dirt is tough stuff. I farm cotton in North Texas and find that I have to adjust from field to field, some of our land is sand and some black dirt and the same tractor that would pull 5 bottom in sand WIll NOT pull 5 bottoms in blackland without breaking a plow or a just plain hanging in the stiff dirt. Same goes for a disk plow, have to adjust for dirt. This really isn't time to plow anyway, the soil has very little moisture in it. You have to catch it just right, too little moisture and it will come up in chunks, too much and it will just ball up and stick to the plow making a nice mess. Best bet is wait till a good rain, let the ground start to crust over, then try it. Think of our poor forefathers, my GF included, who worked this rotten blackland with Mules and one bottom plows. Those guys were REAL MEN....and we argue about tractors!
